Latest Listen: Loren Kramar
If you haven’t heard of him yet, let me introduce you to Loren Kramar. He’s weird. And amazing.
His new alternative album Glovemaker is sultry like Maxwell, irreverent like Father John Misty, and on occasion, jaunty, like you’re in an old timey saloon.
I said he’s weird. And that is always a compliment.
The album has a range of R&B, folk, and jazz influences that by the end of the album, showcase a distinct and complete style. Just like you’re not in the same mood every day because you’re a multifaceted human, you’re not getting the same sound on every song throughout, but rather a more complete picture of the person Loren Kramar is
His voice is incredible, and his lyrics are raw and thought provoking (and sometimes very crude, which is your warning if that’s not your jam.) If you listen, I think you’ll hear vocal influences from Tracey Chapman and Aaron Neville at times, and at others, it’s so Celine Dion strong and silky that I can’t even put my finger on it.
Musically, I think you’ll hear -similarities- to Michael Kiwanuka, Lana Del Rey, George Michael circa Older, Elton John, and Father John Misty.
It’s a wild ride. One that I’m here for.
